You can view the result details and update them wherever necessary. The visit date mapped to that result can also be updated at this point.
To update the result details:
1. | On the New Lab Result(s) screen, click theicon next to the Test to expand the Order/Result Details panel. |
| Note: Result with abnormal observation values (observation values that are not within the defined reference range) are displayed in red color. |
2. | In the Order/Result Details panel, enter the remarks in Remarks field, if any. |
| Note: Click the icon to add a macro if configured. For details on configuration refer the Macro Configuration section in Administration. |
3. | Enter the Notes if any. |
4. | Select the Assign To Do from the drop-down list. Once assigned and saved with Notes, the user who is assigned to, receives a To Do with the result attached. |
5. | Select the Status from the drop-down list. Once the status is changed to Reviewed, Completed, or performed, the result details are available in patient portal’s Results section on Health Dashboard. |
| Note: Once the status is change to Reviewed, Completed, or performed, the Patient portal notification check box is displayed (Patient Portal Notification is displayed only if the patient has access to Patient Portal). On selecting the check box, you can send email notification to the patient with remarks updated. |
6. | Select the Visit Date from the drop-down list to map the visit date to results. The Visit Date field is displayed only for results that are mapped to patients. |
7. | Click Save to save the details. |
8. | In the Order/Result Details panel, do the following: |
• | Click the icon to test result in structured PDF format. Once the patient name is mapped to results, or on receiving solicited results, the result PDF is saved in Lab results or Radiology Results folder in Document Manager. |
• | Click the icon to send the fax of result PDF. |
• | Click the icon to navigate to the Result Trending screen. For details on result trending, refer to the Lab Trending section. |
• | Click the icon to view the education material for the test or observations. |
• | Select the Diagnostic Result Image check box to electronically indicate the availability of a patient’s image and narrative interpretations for radiology tests. This check box is displayed for radiology results. Selection of this check box is the criteria to increase numerator for “Menu Set 3: Imaging Results” of MU-2. Please refer to the above section in Meaningful Use Stage- 2 User Guide for more details. |
• | Click the icon to view the electronic image results. This icon is displayed for radiology results and only if the result is received with an external image link. |
• | Locate the complete notes added to the result that is received electronically or added manually. Hence patient portal users can view these notes without opening the result in PDF format. |
